“I first met Rhonda in 2007- 8 when I was conducting a research project for the Victorian Department of Health (Infectious Diseases) through the Department of General Practice at the University of Melbourne, where I was employed as a social medical scientist. The aim of the project was to review the Health Guidelines being used by Tattooing and Body Piercing Practitioners in Victoria, and to make recommendations for any changes required with the Guidelines. Through the course of this project we met with and interviewed several hundred people connected to the beauty and body art industry in Victoria, including Environmental Health Officers and Tattooing and Body Piercing practitioners.
